How, when and why empty a motorcycle?
Changing your motorcycle's engine oil
regularly can save you money in the short term, extend its life and improve its
performance. This is a simple but necessary operation and since most bikes
don't have a sensor that tells you when to do it, you need to take the
initiative and know when to change it. You will see how step by step you will
perform this operation brilliantly.
How?
1) Drain your oil
Use a basin or other safe container, remove
the drain plug and oil pan while the engine is still warm (take a short walk to
warm it up), making sure the motorcycle is upright. This will ensure that all
the oil is evacuated, preferably overnight. Do not attempt to start the engine
while it is drained of oil. Consider preserving the environment by taking used
oil to a landfill.
Two steps to change the oil.
2) Change oil filter
When you change the oil, you must also
change the oil filter, which will ensure that your fresh oil works as
efficiently as possible. Remove the old filter and fit the new one. Remember to
place the O-rings correctly to avoid leaks. Make sure not to overtighten the
new filter.
3) Fill with new oil
Before pouring your new oil into the remote
control dc motor, make sure the oil filter is properly attached. Finally,
check your manual for the recommended amount, then pour into the tank. Don't
overfill.
Always check the oil level again after the
first trip and complete accordingly.
When?
The motorcycle oil change should be done
every six months or after 5000km.
Why? Why?
In an internal combustion engine, oil does
not just reduce friction to limit heating and wear. It is there to cool, clean
the engine and protect parts from corrosion.
Composed of long molecules that produce a
film that is both very thin and resistant, it is constantly subjected to
shearing forces and temperature variations that cause it to age.
Over time, it takes up impurities
circulating in the engine (metal residues, clutch lining, dust absorbed via the
intake, etc.) which it deposits in the oil filter.
In fact, it degrades, turns black and its
performance decreases. It is then that his replacement becomes necessary.
